Worth The Fight
By L.D. Davis
Our Rating: A Whole Bottle Of Wine

Luke Kessler loved Emmy.

She broke his heart.

Then she revealed a life altering secret that brought them back together.

Time and forgiveness heal old wounds and love flourishes. Luke and Emmy find themselves reaching for a happily ever after together. When their pasts begin to push into their present and hurtful mistakes are made, the couple struggle with each other and their past demons. How much is too much? Will the couple be able to fight their way to a happily ever after? Are their lives together worth the fight?

Aly's Review:
Worth the Fight by L.D. Davis is officially one of my favorite point of view books. I'll be honest, I missed my favorite horse man Luke since Accidentally on Purpose ended. I think I still have hang over from that one. I am here to give you all some great news, HE'S BACK!!!

Worth the Fight is a book told from Luke's POV, and it spans the last half of Accidentally on Purpose and Worthy of Redemption. So if you haven't read those two first, you should probably get on that. They are fantastic and absolute must reads. Luke's POV is no different either. It stirred up all those crazy emotions I felt while reading the first two books.

L.D. did a great job bringing Luke, Emmy, Lucas, and yes...EVEN KYLE back in this book. I usually have a problem with POV books, because I feel like they are the exact same story, dialog, situations, etc... just from a different characters mouth. I won't lie, a lot of Worth The Fight is like that, but it's also more. We get more information about Luke, that we never knew in Accidentally on Purpose. Yes, we get in Luke's head, but we also get some new drama and angst that will keep you connected. I fell in love with Luke (and Emmy) all over again!

If you loved Accidentally on Purpose and Worthy of Redemption. There is no doubt in my mind that you will enjoy Worth the Fight also. I am giving the sexy, funny, sweet, and good hearted Luke Kessler a whole bottle of wine.

Otherwise Unharmed
By Shay Savage

Our Rating: A Whole Bottle of Wine

Otherwise Occupied Trailer:

After Evan Arden was imprisoned by the enemy for a year and a half, he returned from the desert as a military hero.  He’d suffered some minor injuries during his captivity, was discharged from the Marines with a touch of shellshock, but was considered otherwise unharmed.  Now he wonders how he ended up where he is—incarcerated in Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center for using his sharpshooting expertise to take out the neighborhood park with a high-powered sniper rifle and multiple rounds of ammunition.

Lia Antonio, the woman he rescued from the desert heat the previous year, is the only person who can bring him out of his sleep-deprived psychosis and mounting PTSD.  When she does, Evan knows he can’t just let her go again.  He’s never considered leaving the business before—who retires from the mafia?—but he’s determined to get both Lia and himself out of harm’s way.

Evan faces overwhelming forces from multiple directions as a deal to get him out of jail turns more dangerous than he imagined.  With a mob war on the horizon and the feds holding evidence over his head, Evan has no choice but to throw himself into the middle of another warzone.

In his efforts to make things right, Evan crosses the wrong man and finds himself on the business end of the crosshairs.  With his acute perception and intelligence, he tries to stay a step ahead of his former co-workers, but this time, it isn’t just his own life on the line—he’s got to protect Lia from the man who once called him son.

Fall's Review:
This is the third and final book in the Evan Arden Trilogy. If you have NOT read Otherwise Alone and Otherwise Occupied then STOP and go buy them now. You will NOT be disappointed!!! I had the pleasure of reading some of Shay's stories through FanFiction before she became a published author. So when I found out that she was releasing books, I broke out the credit card and hit Amazon in search. I tore through the first two and waited very eagerly for the third. When I saw that she was asking for blogs to participate in her release tour I signed up as fast as I could. I am not sure if many of you know this, but Shay has a model she uses for Evan. He goes by the name Savage Trainer and, yes ladies, he is on twitter!  Let me tell you if you do not have a twitter account it is worth it to sign up just to look at this fine specimen of a man! HOLY SHIT!!!! OK I digress.........

"I don't want to hurt you," I said. "I do want to fuck the ever-loving shit out of you."

Evan Arden is a stone cold, sexy as sin killer. An ex-marine who was a POW for 18 months before he was rescued, he battles demons no one can understand everyday of his life. Trapped in his own mind, he fights to find peace and sanity but feels it slipping further away everyday. The one thing that lets him feel "real" is Lia. She's his precious angel who appeared to him and changed his world forever and the one thing in life, besides his dog, that he cares for and wants to protect. But the only reason she is in harms way is because of him. Because of his selfishness, he has pulled Lia into his world of guns, drugs, and killers. No one is safe and everyone is out to get you, even if they know you can put a bullet between their eyes with a blindfold on. As his sanity slowly slips and he is faced with protecting the one he loves, who will protect him? Can Evan battle his demons or will they consume him and drag him under for good?

"She was everything I needed, and I was fucking poison to her. I'd known it since the beginning, but I'd been to selfish to push her away."

Lia Antonio stumbled into Evan's life on accident. What she didn't know was that after meeting the sexy, secretive man with the adorable dog, her life would never be the same. Having survived and escaped an abusive relationship, Lia is not looking for a man, and especially not in the hot, dusty desert. But the passion between Evan and Lia is instant and sweltering. When Lia finally sees Evan again after searching for him for months, she does not expect to see him in cuffs and find out he is going to prison.  Determined to help Evan face his demons in whatever way she can, she enters his world. What do you say when you find out the love of your life is a hit man and kills with no emotion? Is Lia's heart strong enough to battle her own fears and demons and help Evan heal also?

This final book is PACKED with action. I LOVED this book the most out of the three. There are so many twists and turns and surprises that it's impossible to guess how it will end. As I reader, I find that refreshing. We also get to see a softer side of Evan when he is with Lia and its comforting especially when most of the time he is this troubled, cold, closed off shell of a man. They say love can heal all will just have to read to find out!
This WZ girl gives Otherwise Unharmed a whole bottle of Pinot......cause you are gonna need it to get through this book! Thank you Shay for taking us on this journey with you and I look forward to what you have in store for us next!!!!

Ash's Review:

Oh thank GOD!!! Finally, Ryland and Araya are back!!!!!  I was feeling a little empty there at the end of The Edge of Darkness.

Melissa picks up just about where she left off in TEOD and I am so glad that she did!! I was dying to know what was going to happen.  If you haven't had the chance to read TEOD, please go read it now. I truly loved that book.  You will be so glad that you did.  Plus, if you haven't read it, I'm about to ruin it for you and we can't have anyone mad at me for that!!!! Anyway, back to TGID.

Araya has been at the prestigious school for the blind for a few months when Ryland finally finds her and then works up the nerve to go see her.  And what does he find when he gets there? A happy Araya.  And because she is happy, he makes the decision to wait a while longer.  He still doesn't really know why she left to begin with, and seeing her happy and dancing again makes him question her feelings for him.

So Ryland waits, and he bides his time working for his father.  He is working with Careless, however he has not forgiven her for her role in humiliating the love of his life and using her to get back at her father. The term "father" is used loosely here.  JD is still a scheming and manipulative jackass.  Although, I have to admit I was a bit confused as to WHY he is the way he is.  And really, that question never gets answered.

Eventually they find their way back together, but the reunion isn't an easy one.  They have to deal with their feelings for each other and also their insecurities.  She thinks she is holding him back, he just wants to take care of her, she has to prove she can do it get the idea.  Not to mention, JD is involved in some major plotting against them, and it doesn't look good there for a while.  You start to wonder if maybe they are just doomed to fail.

Of course, there is a HEA...... And I am so glad for that!!!! I think Melissa did a GREAT job with this book and telling the story of Ryland and Araya.  I feel like it was a little rushed in parts, and I would have liked to have a little more information during the major turning point in the story (I can't tell you what though, because it's a BIG moment!). But aside from that, I LOVED seeing their relationship continue to grow.

I am giving The Grace in Darkness by Melissa Andrea four glasses of White Zin.....which I will have to wait until May to consume....... All these glasses of wine I have saved up, I'm gonna be drunk til September!!!!!

His fingers wrapped around the back of my neck, pulling me hard against his
body. I knew what he was attempting to do, but his plan was backfiring.
My body sighed at the contact, and every curve molded against him;
desperate to feel all of him.
“If I feel you beneath me, I won’t
be able to stop Araya. I want you too damn much! I want you, all of you.
I want to be buried so deep inside of you, you won’t know where I end
and you begin.” His breath showered my lips with warmth.
“I won’t want you to stop Ryland. I need you, all of you, now and forever.”
“And the rest?”</ p>
eyes move over my face, flushing my skin with the intensity of his
gaze. The rhythm of my heart increased, because I know what he wants me
to say.
“Say it.” He growls against my lips.

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Expected Release Date: January 29, 2014

I met Sarah Kate Erickson when I was 21 years old. I was lucky enough to keep her for seven years before a tragic accident stole her from me. She didn’t die, but sometimes I think it would have been easier if she had.

I lived in a haze for those four years after the accident. Catering to her every need, even though she hated the very sight of my face. I tried to hold on to her and the future that we were supposed to build together. But you can’t hold on to someone that doesn’t exist anymore.

It wasn’t until I met Jesse Addison, a barista at the local coffee shop, that I realized I didn’t just lose Sarah that tragic night, I lost myself as well. Jesse taught me how to let go of the past and learn to love again. But what happens when your past haunts your present and the woman you used to love refuses to accept the woman you can’t live without?

**Intended for readers 18+. Each book in this series can be read as a standalone.**

"Sarah, don't do this. Damn it! Stay with me." I reach over and gently brush her blood soaked hair off her forehead. Even in this horrific moment, I'm in absolute awe of how beautiful she looks. Bleeding and broken, unmoving in my arms she is still the most mesmerizing woman I have ever laid eyes on. Deep down, I know this is just the husk of my wife. My Sarah would never have done this to herself. More importantly, she never would have done this to me. Maybe it takes this level of madness, but I finally realize that I have lost her completely.
Whether she lives or dies, Sarah is gone. This is not the woman who made me laugh more in seven years than the rest of my life combined. She definitely isn't the woman who I spent years planning a future with, a future that now no longer exists. I feel a heavy weight in my chest at my silent confession, but oddly enough I also feel a weight lifted off my shoulders. I have watched this woman disintegrate in front of my eyes for almost seven months; everyday losing her a little more. The light in her eyes fading, while piece by piece and bit by bit, she lost grip of reality. Mentally, emotionally, and now physically, she's left me.
My Sarah died seven months ago on her way home from dinner, and I will never see her walk back into my life. Suddenly, I can't breathe. I'm terrified, and not only because Sarah might finally succeed in taking her own life. I'm paralyzed by the realization that my life is spiraling down in a free fall headed straight for misery and the only thing I can think to do is anchor myself to this dying woman. I love Sarah with all my heart, but I am clinging not to the woman in my arms but rather to the life I thought we were going to have together. I have to accept that she isn't there anymore. Her heart might still be beating but the bloody, confused, emotionally lost woman I am holding now is only the shell of my first and only love.
"Where the fuck is that ambulance!" I yell as loud as my cracking voice will allow. Stroking the little bit of her unmarred skin that I'm able to reach, I whisper in her ear, "Hang on baby." Then I repeat the one sentence I have said almost daily since the tragic event that stole her from me. Maybe I say it for her, maybe just for me, but I know it is the biggest lie I have ever uttered. "Just hang on baby, it's all going to be okay."

Review: Remy (Real #3) by Katy Evans

Saturday, November 30, 2013

By Katy Evans
Our Rating: Four Glasses of Wine

Underground fighter Remington Tate is a mystery, even to himself. His mind is dark and light, complex and enlightening. At times his actions and moods are carefully measured, and at others, they spin out of control.

Through it all, there's been one constant: wanting, needing, loving, and protecting Brooke Dumas. This is his story; from the first moment he laid eyes on her and knew, without a doubt, she would be the realest thing he's ever had to fight for.

Fall's Review:
If you have read Real and Mine then you must read Remy. Katy closes the Real series with the last installment, Remy. This is Real but told from Remington's point of view. I had the pleasure of reading all 3 books and reviewing Mine and Remy.

"I want to play you a thousand different songs so you get a clue of what... I feel inside me.

In Remy we get inside Riptides head and we see how he deals with his everyday struggles. How he feels when he fights, when he sees Brooke for the first time, when he is "speedy". We get to see him fall in love and straddle that line of love and obsession. We see how he feels about telling Brooke his "secrets" and how for the first time in his life he is terrified that what he has to say might make her leave, the one person he wants to stay!

“You have no idea what you’re asking for”
“I’m asking for you.”
"I won’t let you fucking leave me.”
“Maybe I won’t want to.”

Don't think that Katy doesn't give us anything new because she does! There are small chapters throughout the book that pick up where Mine left off and show us glimpses of Remy and Brooke. I found myself wanting a little bit more of Brooke and Remy (present) but was happy that we got to see how they are coping since Mine finished. If you have NOT read the first two books in this series then please don't start with Remy. It will have you asking A LOT of questions and will totally spoil the first two books for you.

"I want to be your fucking real. You get that? If I fuck you, I want you to belong to me. To be mine."             "I want you to give yourself to me-not fucking Riptide."

I am sad to close this chapter on Brooke and Remy.  However I am so glad that Katy wrote these amazing characters and shared them with us! I look forward to reading more by the very talented Katy Evans! This Riptide fan gives Remy 4 glasses of White Zin, and the Real series a whole bottle!!!!!

Beautifully Awake
By Riley Mackenzie
Our Rating: Four and a Half Glasses of Wine

Diagnosis: Sleep-running
Treatment: Truth
Prognosis: Beautifully Awake

Lili Porter hates the rain. Bad things happen in the rain. As a small town social worker dedicated to protecting children, she is forced to start over to escape her rural disaster. Determined to follow her father’s advice—head up and chin high—Lili finds herself in a new city, taking on a new system, this time healthcare. In doing so, she gets something she never expected, an intimate behind-the-scenes look at life in the hospital.

Lili learns that a surgeon’s hands have the power to heal more than physical wounds. And a prescription for truth can cure three years of sleep running and leave you beautifully awake.

Fall's Review:
TRUTH...........This is a debut novel by the talented duo that is Riley Mackenzie. Being in the medical profession myself, I was very excited to read a book written by 2 intelligent ladies who also have the pleasure of working in medicine. The hospital is the main setting for this book, with the characters having most of their interactions there. Not only did I LOVE Chase and Lili, but also the MANY supporting characters as well.

TRUTH........Lili is a social worker that left her hometown to start fresh. Running, or as the authors call it "sleep running" from her past, Lili has spent the last three years unsure of where she is going. When she starts a new job and finds herself rounding with the Neurosurgical department staff, she starts to wonder how she got there.

"You woke me up, Chase. You brought color back to my life. The only time I ever want to see grey again is when I’m looking in your eyes."

TRUTH.......Chase is an ASS, plain and simple!! He knows he is good at what he does and he knows he is good looking.  He has no problem telling his staff when to jump and how high. When you are the new "Head of Neurosurgery" and have the reputation he does, he expects only the best! Battling with a haunted past of his own he copes with the best defense mechanism he knows, take no bull shit!

“Lili, truth. We are worth it.”

When Lili and Chase literally collide one day at work both their worlds are tilted off axis. When you have two wounded, bleeding hearts how can they possibly heal? At what point do you realize you have been sleep walking your life away? Can they heal each other and live the lives they are meant to live, instead of going through the motions?

"Chase...those demons don't have to be fought anymore. Let's keep them asleep...we'll stay awake..together."

Throw in a cast of smart, sexy, witty, flirty and even creepy nurses and doctors and you have an amazing book! I loved the banter between the interns and the doctors, nurses and patients. The chemistry not only from the leads but also the supporting characters was steamy! With a twist at the end of the book that I did not see coming, I think I laughed, cried and yelled (just a little) when I read this.  Riley Mackenzie hit it spot on with their first book and I cant not wait to read the second!  This nurse gives Beautifully Awake 4.5 glasses of Pinot Grigio (because its stronger!!!!)

He was already dressed for the OR in his scrubs, looking ... amazing. The beat beneath my chest started again and my mouth watered, as I not so subtly roamed his body with my hungry eyes. All I wanted was to feel his body against mine, get lost in where I ended and he began. It was all I’d ever want. Forever. I finally got what he meant every time he said mine. He was mine.
“See something you like?” He smirked.
“Baby, if you don’t stop looking at me like that I’m never gonna get out of here.”
“Truth. Sounds perfect to me.” Now I smirked.
“Ahh fuck, you’re killing me. You know scrubs don’t hide a hard-on very well.”
I laughed. He had a point there.
Leaning down, he kissed my nose. “Text you in a bit, see how your day is going...”
So was this my life? I sunk back into the fluffy pillows and sighed. I wanted this to be my morning every morning.

About the Authors:

Yep. That's an “s.” There are two of us!

We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us.
It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know.

So you can easily find us at 4 o'clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations).

When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school.

Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine?
Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know), otherwise it might have taken us two years to write Beautifully Awake rather than one.

So that’s our story, who we are … just add AUTHORS to the list!

Title – LIE TO ME, Redemption #1
Author – Chloe Cox
Genre – NA/Adult Contemporary Romance
Release Date – November 7, 2013
Our Rating: Four and a Half Glasses of Wine

The man who saved her is also the man who destroyed her… or is he?

Seven years ago, I decided I wanted to be a fighter. Marcus Roma showed me how.

Six years ago, my parents died in a car accident. Marcus Roma picked me up off the ground and held me until I could stand on my own two feet.

Five years ago, I fell in love with him.

And then Marcus Roma disappeared. No warning. No explanation. Just gone.

Yesterday, he came back.

And now I have to decide who’s telling the truth, and who’s lying. Who wants something from me, and who wants…

If I guess wrong, I could lose everything. I need to think clearly. But Marcus makes that impossible. Marcus makes me weak. Marcus makes me want, in a way I’ve never felt before.

Marcus Roma will make me fall. The only question is—will he be there to catch me this time?

LIE TO ME is a new adult / adult contemporary romance novel about truth, lies, and redemption. It is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Aly's Review
Lie to Me by Chloe Cox was fabulous. It's not what you normally expect from Chloe Cox (no bdsm) but I swear, I think I liked this book most of all. Lie to Me is dark  and gritty, filled with angst, drama, doubt, and rekindled love.

Harlow and Marcus meet as teenagers only to have it fall apart when Marcus disappears one day. Both of them are broken, but together form one soul. When Marcus shows back up emotions fly. Chloe did such an amazing job writing this book, I actually felt heartbreak along with these characters. It's not all angst and sadness. The chemistry between these two, is hot, definitely some steamy scenes in there too. I adored the way this story is told from dual POV. The story line is so intricate so the dual point of view allows us to really get all the nitty gritty details.

Oh, let me just tell you ladies, Marcus is a STUD! Total book boyfriend, maybe even a dethrone Remy kind of book boyfriend. Yes, I said it. He is just that hott! <---- Yes, I used two t's.

I want to go all into this story, but there is just too many ways for me to ruin this one for you. I'm going to stop now, before I tell you about the roof....damn! See I should have stopped earlier. Go grab a copy of this one and experience it for yourself. I'm happily giving Lie to Me by Chloe Cox, four and a half glasses of wine!

I love to tell stories. I especially love romance, only with all the good and sexy parts left in, and sometimes with a little kink, too. I cry at the dumbest commercials, I hide behind the nearest person during scary movies (and then make them tell me what’s going on), and I spend way too much money sending my friends gag gifts. (Amazon Prime free shipping is a dangerous, dangerous thing.)
So aside from feeling compelled to sit at my computer and make stuff up all day, I’m an otherwise normal gal navigating life, family, love and the rest. I am also a voracious, omnivorous reader, a disastrous cook (recipes are at best just suggestions), and the human who belongs to two bat%$&! insane cats.

Ash's Review:

LET. ME. TELL. YOU. SOMETHING!!!!!  I LOVE LOVE L-O-V-E-D Unexpected Protector.  How much did I love it, you ask?  I started it less than 24 hours ago. Once I got rolling today, there was no stopping me!!!!

Sloan did it again.  She did a great job at letting us in to the lives of Tommy and Holly, letting us see their weaknesses and flaws, without dwelling on them.  She does an amazing job at the passage of time too. She does not write a book that only spans over the course of a week because we get a day by day by day by, ugh, day rundown of their lives.  We are lucky to see their lives and how it's progressed over a period of time.  Did that even make sense??? I'm sure it did, moving on.

We start just about where UA (ha! For us medical people) ends, with Holly in the hospital and Tommy keeping vigilance at her bedside.....and why is Tommy there you ask? Even he is not sure, aside from the fact that he feels drawn to her.  As the story progresses, we see him become more attached and determined to help her.  And eventually their relationship becomes more than just him trying to help out the friend of a friend.

Holly is unsure what she has done to deserve the kindness from her unexpected protector, but soon enough she finds a way to accept and eventually embrace it.  With the help of both her best friend Tasha (even though Tasha owes her nothing), and Tommy, Holly begins to find herself for what is the first time in her life.

Everything seems to be moving right along and looking up for them both when some one returns to Tommy's life and threatens to ruin what they have......and don't worry, it's not another woman!!!

I have a few complaints, but only because I am an impatient girl!  First, the book just ends...... In the middle of some crazy drama!!!!! I literally SHOUTED "oh come on, you have GOT to be F*cking sh*tting me!!!!"  Seriously, my husband looked up at me like I had two heads!  Sloan, you are killing me! I can not wait for the next book!!!!  Secondly, I still feel like I don't really know much about the Alliance.  I understand WHAT it is, but I would like to know more about how it was formed, ect, ect.

Minor griping aside, I absolutely LOVED this book and am gladly giving Unexpected Protector 4.5 glasses of White Zin! Now Sloan, can I get a sneak peak of what happens next???

I nod, my throat constricted by the emotion I’m not used to feeling. “Good girl,” he whispers in my ear before drawing the lobe into his mouth, sucking and nipping. He continues working his way down my neck, biting my collarbone harder than I’m used to. I jerk in surprise, but not in pain. “Don’t stop,” I beg him. My mind doesn’t seem to process the fact that he’s on the wrong end of my body to make my core clench tight. I never knew before now that it’s possible to be driven to climax without any direct contact with either my nipples or pussy. I scream his name as my head falls back, eventually allowing my head to come back to rest on his shoulder. “Such a responsive girl,” he praises me as he holds me close to him. “What about you?” I ask when my breathing returns to normal.

I take another step toward him, building up the nerve to just do it, just kiss him.  But Hemi surprises me when he takes the step that will bring us near enough to touch.

He’s so close, my chest almost brushes his every time I inhale. I sway toward him the tiniest bit, craving the contact.  With him.  A perfect stranger.

“Sloane,” he whispers, the sound of my name on his lips bringing chills to my arms again.  He reaches out to push my hair back over my shoulder.  His fingertips linger on the skin of my neck before they fall away.

“Hemi,” I sigh, melting into the heat of his eyes.  I knew there was something between us. Well, I’d hoped. Hoped I wasn’t imagining it. But now I know I wasn’t.  It’s there, staring out at me from behind his hooded midnight eyes. Blatant and unabashed, he wants me.  And I want him, too.

“You need to walk out that door and never come back.”

My heart stops.  Of all the things I thought he might say, this came out of nowhere.  “What?” I ask in a small, uncertain voice.

“You need to leave.  And don’t look back.”

I scramble to recover.  “But…but what about the rest of my tattoo?”

“I’m not talking about your tattoo and you know it.”

“Then what are you talking about?” I inquire, playing dumb to save what’s left of my crumbling pride.

“I’m talking about you.  And me.  This. Us.”

“There is no us.”

“There will be in about thirty seconds if you don’t get the hell out of here.”

“What if I don’t want to leave?” I’m confused. Is he saying that he wants me?  Or that he wants me to go?

“I’m not asking.”

“Why what?”

“Why do you want me to go?”

“Because guys like me change girls like you.”

“Girls like me?”

“Innocent girls.”

“What if I’m not that innocent?”

His lips quirk in a wry grin.  “Oh, you’re exactly that innocent.  I can practically smell it on you. Sweet, pure, untouched.  And, if I’m being honest, I’d like nothing better than to taste that on the tip of my tongue.”

“Then what’s stopping you?”

I watch him wrestle with…something.  “I don’t have the time or the inclination to get involved in ruining someone else’s life.”

“What makes you think you’d ruin my life?”

“Oh, trust me.  I would.”

“But nothing.  For tonight, I’ll be the good guy you need me to be.  Whether you know you need it or not. I’m asking you to leave, Sloane.  But I promise you—promise you—that if you so much as darken my doorway again, I won’t let you walk back out again.”

I’m torn between heady elation and harsh rejection.  “Hemi—”

“Go, little girl,” he says softly.  “Go before I change my mind.”

All the Pretty Lies
“Live, no regrets”

Sloane Locke has led a sheltered life.  However, with a history like hers, she can understand why her brothers and her father want so much to protect her.  She has gone along with it for twenty long years, but those days are over.  For the girl who never makes promises, Sloane has made a pact with herself that things will change on her twenty-first birthday.  So when the clock strikes midnight, Sloane strikes out to spread her wings and break a few rules.

In addition to inking skin, Hemi Spencer possesses many talents. Controlling himself has never been one of them.  It’s never had to be.  He’s lived a life of indulgence for as long as he can remember.  Right up until tragedy struck.  Now, he’s nothing but controlled. He’s a man on a mission, one who will let nothing and no one stand in his way.

Nothing in their lives could’ve prepared Sloane and Hemi for what they’d find in each other—distraction and obsession, love and possession.  But the one thing they can’t find is a future.  Neither one has been totally honest.  And they’ll soon learn that the devil is in the details.  In the details and in the lies.

How far will two people go to live in the now when the now is all they’ve got?
