Rating: 4 Glasses of Wine

Samantha and Mason are together. Everyone knows it. Not everyone is dealing with it. While Mason’s ready to give them the middle finger, there’s one not going away. Her mother. Threats are issued. Ultimatums are given. Even blackmail is used, but only Samantha can put a stop to Analise. However, when a trauma from her past is triggered, she may not have the courage or strength to do what’s needed. If she doesn’t, Mason’s future could be destroyed.

Our Review:

If you remember Fallen Crest High, it was a huge cluster fuck at the end and it left many readers, myself included, thinking....WHAT THE FUCK just happened??!??!  Well folks, Fallen Crest Family gave me the same WTF is going on thoughts. In Fallen Crest High, I fell in love with Logan, Sam got on my nerves and Mason's character was a smidge unrealistic for an 18 year old boy. Even though I loved it, Aly did not.... And Ash hasn't had the chance to read it yet.

In FCF we learn a little more about why the kids are the way they are. Nate comes back and we learn about his relationship with Mason. Logan is still the fun loving, smart mouth little shit he was in FCH, but we see how vulnerable he can be when his "mask" is down. He also shows us how loyal he is to his family and those he loves.

Logan laughed to himself, "Happy Birthday Samantha. I love you. You're going to be my stepsister and maybe my sister-in-law someday, but until those days come, you already know you're family. And I think I can speak for everyone in saying, you're getting wasted tonight!"
He lifted his cake in the air. "Salute to Sam getting wasted!"

Sam is still "always in her head", and very dependent on Mason. However, we do finally learn WHY she is so fucked in the head and why her mom is a raging lunatic.

He murmured, "I have no idea what just happened, but you scared the shit out of me. You're going to have to tell me Sam. Sometime, you're going to have to tell me."
But not today, not yet.

Sam runs A LOT, makes a new friend who has a past with the Kades, sometimes acts like A normal  17 year old and even has some sweet moments with Mason. One question though ladies.......who goes running for hours at a time to clear their head?? Seriously?!?!? Uh not this girl!!! I guess since they aren't old enough for wine, running will have to do!! Anyway, Adam and Becky are back in the picture and Mason shows that he is not always hard and closed off.

"I love you, Mason."
He pressed another kiss to my neck, then to my shoulder blade. " I love you too. Now go to sleep."

As you can see, there is so much happening in this book that it becomes a little overwhelming and the story lines can become confusing.  This book is not fluffy and sappy. It does not have a happy ever after ending. In fact, Tijan plans to write more of this story. Yes, there are some sex scenes that are HOT! Violence, emotional abuse and cursing are all present. There is also a pretty graphic flash into Sam's past that some readers may not like.

Tijan writes these characters like real life people. They aren't sugar coated and made to look perfect. I think that is one of the things I like most about her books and what draws me to her characters. I am very honored to have been able to read this book before its release and enjoyed reviewing it. I sit on pins and needles waiting for the next look into Mason, Sam and Logan's lives. Until then, this reader gives Fallen Crest Family by Tijan 4 glasses of white zin!
