Our Review:

What better, and slightly ironic, way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon than curled up on the couch with a book titled April Showers?

To start, this book is based in England and I will admit, I read the whole thing in my terrible British accent. Being a southern girl, some of the phrases and slang used was a little confusing and a lot amusing.  My favorite was this line:
"Katie had met Ian whilst we were in our second year of college and fell pregnant after dating him for three months."
Fell pregnant??!!? Haha, I couldn't stop giggling over that! Anyway, I've been sidetracked.  Back to the review of this book.

I have to be honest, in the beginning I was not liking it.  Isaac seemed too controlling and domineering, and April seemed to be a little weak.  After reading so much I have come to realize that I HATE weak women! Think Fifty Shades, the Crossfire series... But that quickly changed when April stood up for herself with a little quick wit and a foul mouth.... Two of my favorite traits in a leading lady.
"I'm Lukas and this is April" he replied...
"April, huh as in the month?"
"Hollie, huh as in the plant?" I sniped back.
This book had me conflicted.  I found myself rooting for Lukas. I guess I didn't get how April could fall so hard for Isaac after half a night together.  Meanwhile, she has Lukas all but licking her toes!!!   I mean, I get that Isaac was H-O-T..........
"He was at least six foot tall and looked like he was in his mid-twenties.  I could see the outlines of his toned muscles through his shirt and I was pretty sure that he had a six pack hiding under there.  His dark brown hair was messy and matched his stubble, giving his good looks a bad boy edge."
I would probably be drooling over him too.  Maybe I'm just jealous I don't have two guys after me!! Because really, Lukas didn't sound too hard on the eyes himself!
"He smiled and I couldn't help but think how handsome it made him look.  He was good looking in a boy next door kind of way.  He was about five foot ten with a slim build and sandy blonde hair."
That being said, I really actually enjoyed this book once I got past Isaac and his eye rolling inducing controlling-ness. Is that even a word people??!!  And I absolutely LOVED this quote:
"Love isn't safe.  Love is crazy and scary and unpredictable. You can't control it and you sure as hell can't fight it.  It's one of life's greatest risks...but it's one of life's greatest gifts."
Lemme tell ya something.  I am one impatient chick.  Christmas time? I'm ready to start giving out gifts December 15th. My birthday? I am begging to know what I got a week beforehand.  All of that I say to tell you I don't usually like books that leave me hanging.  And this book ends in a CLIFFHANGER!!!!!!   I am about to DIE to know what happens next!!!! How long must I be forced to wait in eager anticipation for the follow up?

So, in closing, I am impatiently, eagerly looking forward to seeing how this story ends, even if I am a little bummed that I've been left hanging.  April Showers by Karli Perrin gets 4 glasses of wine from this bad British accent reader.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention. This weeks Hot Damn Hump Day is dedicated to the panty-dropping sexiness that is Isaac and Lukas. Yumm!
