Unexpected Angel (Isthmus Alliance #1)
By Sloan Johnson
Rating: Four and a half glasses of wine

Tasha Skinner finally shed the baggage of a failed marriage. Now, she’s looking forward to a night of margaritas and man-bashing. Tasha’s friends have other plans, including Leather,Lace and liberation.
Dylan Caprese didn’t want to go to Marquee, but he and his friends were on a mission. They took it upon themselves to make sure things didn’t get out of hand when wannabe Doms mixed alcohol with playtime at the monthly Leather and Lace night.
From the moment he set eyes on Tasha, he knew there was something different about her. She wasn’t some bondage babe who thought she knew what it meant to be into BDSM. She was much, much worse; she was innocent and trusting. He can tell she is something precious.
When Tasha’s past threatens to destroy her, Dylan begins to realize that while their paths have never crossed, their lives most definitely have. Will he be able to save her before it’s too late?

Our Review:
I just finished Unexpected Angel by Sloan Johnson and it was F-A-B!!!!  To sound totally cheesy, it was "unexpectedly" good!!  The story of Dylan, a sexy as hell, good-hearted Dom, and Tasha, newly divorced and naive, was hard to put down!!!!

Celebrating her divorce from the only man she has ever been with, the man that controlled her and convinced her she was worthless, Tasha agrees to go out with Holly, her best friend.  All she knows is that it's "Leather and Lace" night at the club and she is outside of her element.  Standing in line she encounters an incredibly intriguing and good looking man.
“He steps closer, almost too close for comfort seeing as I have no clue who this devastatingly sexy man is. “Honey, with your blue jeans, fuck-me red boots and a corset so white you'll be glowing all night, you look like a modern day Betsy fucking Ross. Let's just say there's little about your outfit that leads me to believe you've experienced what you're about to see. And the way you're lookin' around, you're not with anyone.
That night she goes home with him and that's the beginning of their relationship and her introduction in to the world of BDSM.  Little does she know that Dylan being a Dom isn't the scariest thing she will encounter.

Dylan was very commanding with Tasha, but not nearly as controlling as other Doms I've read....*cough* Christian Gray *cough*......  And Tasha was a bit insecure because of her life with her ex-husband, but not super whiny.  Sloan (great first name by the way) does a great job not dwelling on Tasha's insecurities.  There's just nothing worse than page after page of weak, whiny, wimpy women!!
“Two things you need to know about me. I’m not a liar and I do not belong to anyone.” I’m being a bitch, but this guy is getting on my nerves. Yes, he is sex on a stick and seems like he has a good heart somewhere under his tough-guy façade, but I feel like he basically called me a liar and that puts me on guard.”
I loved the side characters, Tommy and Zeke, and cannot wait to read more about them and learn about the "club" that they belong to, the Isthmus Alliance.  I am super excited that this is going to be a series.  It looks like Sloan is going to have four books, each about a different character.  Those are my FAVORITE type of series.  I have a tendency to get burnt out on characters when an entire series centers around one couple. Getting to revisit characters I love, while reading about someone new is what I love the most!!

I am eagerly, anxiously, impatiently awaiting the next book in the Isthmus Alliance series.  Because it was a great read, I am totally giving Unexpected Angel four and a half glasses of Reisling..... Which is quickly becoming a new favorite wine!!!
