My Unexpected Forever

Amazon | B&N | Goodreads
Rating: A Whole Bottle of Wine

Blurb:
I expected a life of music.
I expected to raise my son.
It took one look to make everything change.
I never expected happiness.

I never expected to find her.
I never expected to feel desire.
I never expected I’d be a family man.
I never expected to be loved.
I never expected to fall in love.

They say you should expect the unexpected, I didn’t realize my unexpected would be the forever kind.

Our Review:
My Unexpected Forever was an absolutely amazing story about loss, love, and family that has nothing to do with bloodlines. It was exactly what I was hoping for in the second book in Heidi McLaughlin's Beaumont Series. Heidi makes me cry...like a lot. She pulls tears from every emotion possible, and this is why I love her. After reading Forever My Girl, I was stoked to find out it was actually book one in a series. I wont lie, at first I was a little disappointed when I learned My Unexpected Forever was not another Liam and Josie story. However once I met Harrison, Katelyn, Quinn, Elle, and Peyton, I found myself saying, "Liam who?"

Harrison James is not your typical rock star. Sure he is hot, tattooed, rich, and wildly successful. But he is also a family man raising his son on his own with a little help from his family and friends. Harrison is shy and even a little insecure. I instantly fell in love with him. As much as I adore a good alpha male, it was refreshing to meet a different kind of hero.

We first met Katelyn as Josie's best friend in Forever My Girl. She is a 29 year old widow, mother of twin girls, and has only ever loved one man...her deceased husband. She prefers her men with a clean shave and wearing khakis and Polo shirts. Harrison most definitely does not fit that description. What I found most shocking was that Katelyn doesn't like tattoos. And I know what you are thinking, "Who the hell doesn't like a tattooed man?", because I was thinking the exact same thing. Katelyn has to figure out if she can let go of her typical "type" and guilt about moving on before she can learn to love again.

My Unexpected Forever was emotional, funny, romantic, and had just the right amount of sexy too. One of my favorite sex scenes ever is in this book. Umm.. wow, just wow. I want to write a 3 paragraph spoiler about it, but I will refrain. *sigh*

Did I mention that I love the way Heidi writes? My Unexpected Forever is told from Harrison and Katelyn's alternating POV, so we are able to really get into their heads. I adored the flashbacks in this book. They were well placed in italics (so no confusion) in the middle of chapters. I seriously felt like I was watching a movie. This may seem like a silly detail to include in a review, but I loved it. I'm usually a flash back skimmer, but in this one I got excited when I saw those italics pop up on a page. I devoured every single word.

If a Josie and Liam fix is what you are looking for, you get plenty of them in this one also.Although, I'm pretty sure you will be too consumed by Harrison and Katelyn to miss them. I am giving My Unexpected Forever a very large bottle of wine!

P.S. It wasn't just me. Fall LOVED this book also!

About The Author:
My grandma once told me that I can do anything I want, so I am.
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I now live in picturesque Vermont, with my husband and two daughters. Also renting space in our home is an overhyper Beagle/Jack Russell and two Parakeets.

During the day you'll find me behind a desk talking about Land Use. At night, I'm writing one of the many stories I plan to release or sitting courtside during either daughter's basketball games.

I'm also an active reviewer on The Readiacs - a site I own with my best friend and uber special beta, Yvette.
