Fade In by M. Mabie

Tatum Elliot is a successful writer on a hit television show, lives in an Upper East Side apartment and loves her life. She wouldn’t change a thing. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have a choice. She's losing her sight. Tripping over her tongue and her heels, Tatum all too quickly realizes that the things which appeared so important before are slowly slipping away leaving room for what really matters. With the support of her best friends, family and colleagues, she begins to see that there’s much more to life… and herself. When Ben Harris enters her life as her new personal assistant, she can’t tell if it’s his good looks and charm that are working on her libido, or his kind and helpful nature working on her heart? Whatever it is, neither one of them can resist it. As her vision fades out, a world of love and happiness just might…Fade In. Fade In is a contemporary-romance novel about laughing through your tears and telling life to, quite frankly, “Suck it.” This novel contains sexual situations that the author may or may not have tried at home… for your safety, of course. Research is research.

"I hope you saved the receipt for the breakfast and all that stuff yesterday, too. You don't need to be buying my meals," I say with a mouth that's half full.
He quickly pulls the Jeep into a parking lot and smoothly parks in an available space. He turns the engine off and turns to face me.
"Okay. We need to get a few things straight for today, Tatum." Emerald eyes look at me with utmost determination. "Today, I'm not working. Neither are you. Today we are Ben and Tatum, out and about, having a good time. Think of it like a date."
"A date?" Is this a date? Hold up. When did I agree to a date? Then again, what could it hurt? It's one day-date.
"A date. I'm paying. I'm driving. I'm in control. Do you agree or disagree to this arrangement?"
"No one has ever asked me to go on a date while I'm already on the date." I can't help but smile and be a little excited that he wants to be on a date with me—and he didn't mind telling me so either.
"Will this date interfere with our working relationship?" That's the responsible question I needed to ask.
He shakes his head no.
"Is this like a friends-buddies kind of date?" My eyebrows rise and I lean forward, trying to gauge where he's at in this whole thing.

"Not for me, but I can't answer that for you. You don't even have to think about that right now. Just relax and let me show you a good time. Deal?"  He says this with such confidence that I'm speechless.

Rating: 4.5 glasses

This is the first book I have read by the fabulous M. Mabie and will not be the last, thats for sure. I LOVED this book and once I sat down and my hectic life slowed down just a little, I blew through it. The characters are fun, the angst is light and the romance is hot and heavy. I felt so connected to Tatum and Ben by the end that I felt like I had taken their journey with them. It says something about an author when you can relate that closely with their characters.
Tatum is strong willed and used to doing things on her own and the way she wants. When her sight starts to progressively get worse, her doctor suggests she see a therapist. But to Tatum therapists are just a waste of time and really, she is not ready to admit that she needs "help".  I loved her strong will and witty banter. She was not a weak character by any means and that is refreshing to read. She has an amazing brother Cooper who loves her fiercely and a best friend that tells her like it is. Tatum is forced to "open her eyes" and look at the big picture that is her life. Not only is she affected by her disease but also the people around her who love and support her.
Ben Harris wins your heart from the moment he steps into Tatum's office. Charming and sweet, he takes no bullshit and is not bad on the eyes. He goes head to head with Tatum and her stubbornness and not only is he an amazing personal assistant, but he also cooks and organizes. Ladies, I don't know about you but sign me up!!!! As Ben fights along side Tatum to help her accept the help she needs, secrets slowly emerge. When the ticking time bomb finally explodes, can Ben not only save the relationship he has with Tatum, but also keep from hurting the woman he has grown so attached to?
With a twist at the end, this book will keep you guessing the whole time. I loved how the book was wrapped up so that if it is ever made into a series it will be able to be read as a stand alone. I will admit that tears were shed and wine was consumed. I sing my praises of this book from the roof of my house. It was that GOOD!!!! You will not be disappointed by Fade In and if you are like me, will become a life long fan of M. Mabie. I give Fade In 4.5 glasses of Pinot.  Make sure you pour yourself a generous glass too. You are going to need it!!!!! Until next time my dear M. Mabie, you are truly gifted!!!!

Author Bio

M. Mabie lives in Illinois, NOT Chicago, with her rock-star husband. (True story.) She loves writing for Fifty5Cents Book Blog, which she owns and operates- at the moment quite poorly. She's a proud member of the Indie Author Romance Author Chicks writing group where she maintains a high standard of professionalism and lady-like maturity- or not. She cares about politics, but won’t discuss them in public. She uses the same fork at every meal, watches Wayne’s World while cleaning, and lets her dog sleep on her head. M. Mabie has never been accused of being tight lipped or shy. She’s THAT girl. (She doesn't usually speak in third-person, but surprisingly does when weirded-out about writing her bio.)

Review: Late Call by Emma Hart

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

She’s a high class call girl. He’s taking over his father’s business.
Seven years ago, they fell in love in Paris.
They walked away at the end of the summer, never imagining they’d meet again.
Now he’s her client.

We fell in love the way you jump from a cliff. Hard and fast with a reckless sense of abandon. The six weeks we spent together changed my life, but at seventeen, I was naive. I was a dreamer. A believer.
Now I’m twenty-four and cynical. I don’t believe in love. There’s no place for such emotions as a high class escort. The only things I’m allowed to feel are physical – and that’s why it’s so damn hard when the client of a last minute job turns out to be the man I left in France seven years ago. When he buys me for six weeks at triple my rate, my agent makes it clear I have no choice but to take the job despite our previous relationship. And my heart makes it very clear I have to stay firmly on top of the cliff this time.
Because for six weeks, I once again belong to Aaron Stone.

Ash's Review:

Late Call by Emma Hart was a fun and easy read.  The opening lines were quite humorous and had me interested from the start.  Dayton, known as Mia in her professional life, is a call girl and a good one at that.  She gets a last minute mystery client that turns out to be her one and only love from years past.  Instead of walking away from the job liked he should have, she stays and gets sucked back in to the feelings she once had for him.
Aaron has no idea when he inn oently hires a date for a business function that he is going to be face to face with the one woman he never stopped loving.  Determined to get her back, he hires her to go with him in a 6 week business trip so that he can win her love again.
This book was a whole lot of hot sex.  If you are looking for something to get your juices flowing, this is it.  It's a cliffhanger, and will leave you wanting more!!  I am looking forward to seeing what happens with Aaron and Dayton in Emma's next book.  This White Zin girl gives Late Call 3.5 glasses of Reisling....Drink up ladies!

The More Series

More Than This, #1

In one night my fairytale ended. Or it may have begun. This is my story of friendship and love, heartbreak and desire, and the strength to show weakness.

One night I met a girl. A sad and broken girl, but one more beautiful than any other. She laughed through her sadness, while I loved through her heartbreak.

*This is our story of a maybe ever after.*

He was right. It made no difference whether it was 6 months or 6 years.
I couldn’t undo what had been done. I couldn’t change the future.
I couldn’t even predict it.
It was one night.
One night when everything changed.
It was so much more than just the betrayal.
It was the Tragedy.
The Deaths.
The Murders.
But it was also that feeling.
The feeling of falling.

What readers are saying about More Than This.

“The writing is amazing, great characters and so creative.

I absolutely loved the characters in this book.

This book made me mad, sad & made me laugh & cry...& all in the 1st 20% of the was one gigantic emotional roller coaster!!

More Than Her, #2

For every action there is an equal or opposite reaction." For every choice you make there are rewards, or there are consequences. It was my choice to walk away the first time. And my choice to chase her the second. But sometimes you don't get a choice, and all you get are the consequences.” "Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” Unless that someone is Logan Matthews. Because loving him didn't give me the strength to walk away. It didn't give me the courage to fight for him. And when it was over, all it gave me was a broken heart.

What readers are saying about More Than Her.

“I still feel bad because I want Logan and Amanda to be happy now.

The book ends with a OMG what just happened cliffhanger.

More Than Him, #3

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us." - Marianne Williamson

We live in a world of darkness and shadows,
where monsters hide and aim to ruin.
And they did.
They ruined us and turned our dreams into nightmares.
But now we're back.
And we're fighting.
Not just for us, or for each other, but for our light.

What readers are saying about More Than Him.

“I fell in love with Logan and Amanda in More Than Her.
The author has such an amazing way of telling a story and making you feel like you are one of the characters and you're feeling their emotions.
The book made me laugh, cry and laugh again.
