Barnes & Noble:

Children's librarian by day. Romance novelist by night.
British single father.
Someone else is writing this love story...

Blair Walton isn't your average curvaceous tattooed children's librarian. She's also one half of bestselling romance author, Scarlet Rose. Along with her BFF Raine, she spends her nights writing books so steamy, she's afraid they would shock her Southern conservative grandmother to death . . . if she knew about them. That's why she and Raine write in secret.

On deadline for their latest book and out of ideas, Raine suggests (demands) that Blair find a guy and "do some research". Declan Bennet has all the qualifications: He's British, looks fabulous in a suit, has glorious blue eyes and gets bonus points for being an amazing single dad to his adorable son, Drake. But what starts out as a research project quickly turns into something much more. And Blair's not the only one with secrets.

This is the first book I have read by Chelsea Cameron and enjoyed it. It was a nice break from angst and drama filled books (although I do love some good angst and drama). This was more of a light and fluffy curl up on your couch on a rainy sunday afternoon read. The characters were funny and of course the leading man (men) were sexy and adorable. I could personally relate a little to this book as a good friend of mine is an author and although i do not co-write with her under a pen name, myself and another friend do help her bounce around ideas.

Blair is a child's librarian by day and a smut writer by night. She has the sexy 50's glam going with her curves and tattoos and red lipstick. She's sweet and sincere and speaks her mind. She lives and co-writes with her best friend Raine who is hilarious and a little over bearing at times. Raine works by day as a bank teller and by night as half of Scarlet Rose.
Declan is the sexy Brit with the adorable blonde hurricane of a son, Drake. Drake instantly takes to Blair when she finds him signing in the isles of the library. The quickly become friends, reading and enjoying time together. Declan is driven and has a lot on his plate. A career, a son and attending night school to pursue his MBA. When he meets Blair he is instantly drawn to her. She is different and unique. It doesn't take long for them to get under each others skin. As the romance blooms, uncertainty rears its ugly head.

I enjoyed this book. I found Raine to be humorous, drake to be adorable and very much like my own son, blair to be sweet and sexy and drake to be the all around good guy. If your looking for a fun, light read then I suggest you pick up UnWritten by Chelsea Cameron and snuggle up on the couch with a cold glass of wine. You will find yourself smiling throughout the book! I give UnWritten 4 glasses of Pinot!

Review: Before You by Amber Hart

Tuesday, July 29, 2014

Some say love is deadly. Some say love is beautiful. I say it is both.

Faith Watters spent her junior year traveling the world, studying in exquisite places, before returning to Oviedo High School. From the outside her life is picture-perfect. Captain of the dance team. Popular. Happy. Too bad it’s all a lie.

It will haunt me. It will claim me. It will shatter me. And I don't care.

Eighteen-year-old Diego Alvarez hates his new life in the States, but staying in Cuba is not an option. Covered in tattoos and scars, Diego doesn't stand a chance of fitting in. Nor does he want to. His only concern is staying hidden from his past—a past, which if it were to surface, would cost him everything. Including his life.

At Oviedo High School, it seems that Faith Watters and Diego Alvarez do not belong together. But fate is as tricky as it is lovely. Freedom with no restraint is what they long for. What they get is something different entirely.

Love—it will ruin you and save you, both.
Ash's Review:
I've never read anything by Amber Hart before, but after reading this one you can bet I'll be checking out her other stuff as well.  I received Before You as an arc for review and I loved it!  I'm a big fan of YA and so this was right up my alley.

Before You is a story about two young people broken by their pasts.  We have Diego, a good looking boy that recently escaped from a terrible life in Cuba.  He's got a chip on his shoulder, and rightfully so.  After everything he's been through, he doesn't take any crap from people at his new high school.  And he definitely doesn't have time for the chick showing him around school.

Faith seems to have the perfect life.  Popular, smart, and down to earth, she's exactly what Diego doesn't want.  How could she ever understand him?  But she's got secrets too.  Faith tries to be the perfect daughter to her pastor father.  She dresses conservatively and has quite the facade.  Only her best friend Melissa knows the true her.

But their attraction to one another is undeniable.  And soon, they both stop fighting it.  But being accepted by others is as hard as they thought it would be.  And we see their struggle to find a way to stay together despite all of the seemingly impossible obstacles in their way.

My only complaint with the book was that sometimes Faith seemed ungrateful and a bit bratty.  And some times the chip on Diego's shoulder was a bit excessive.  But these were really very minor complaints that I was able to easily overlook.

I'm giving Before You by Amber Hart 4 glasses of White Zin.  I really loved this story and I am so excited she's planning to write Melissa's story.  The twist at the end had my jaw dropping and me both tearing up and then grinning broadly.  Go grab your copy of this awesome book as fast as you can!!

A minute later, Alicia emerged wearing just her panties and a naughty expression, her arms folded across her breasts. Ben gave a low whistle, reaching under the covers to quickly pull off his underwear. “I love Saturdays.”
Alicia hopped onto the bed, straddling him over the covers, pressing her hands to the pillow on either side of Ben’s head. Ben’s eyes were glued to her naked chest, his hands quickly following them. “Oh, and here I thought you were about to say you loved me,” Alicia said, lowering her face to his neck.
Ben closed his eyes for a moment, taking in the incredible sensation of what she was doing to his ear. “Oh, don’t worry, honey. I’ll always love you almost as much as I love Saturdays.”
Alicia laughed at his joke before grinding her hips into his lap. “You sure about the order of things there, Ben? Can Saturday do this to you?”
Lifting his muscular torso, Ben met Alicia’s lips with his, slowly running his tongue over her bottom lip before crushing his mouth to hers. Their tongues found each other, dancing their familiar, perfect tango. After so many years together, their need for each other had only grown more profound, their ability to give and receive pleasure only more intense.
Ben moved his hands down to her hips and flipped her over onto her back, tossing the sheet off himself and out of his way. He was rock hard and ready to give her what he knew she wanted most, but first he wanted a taste of what was to come. Sliding his hands down to her panties, he tugged them off in one swift movement, leaving her bared to him in the morning sunlight. The streams of light hit her body and face, giving her a look that was almost angelic.
Ben gently parted her legs with his strong hands, opening her to his waiting mouth. His tongue stretched out and reached her first with one long, deliciously slow stroke along her core. Alicia’s breath caught as she let her hands glide over her breasts and tummy. Ben’s lips were next to touch her, sucking gently on her already wet sex. His tongue rolled over her with the exact amount of force that made her wild with pleasure, his thumbs sliding deeper inside, rubbing as his mouth worked its magic. Alicia looked down to the place where his mouth met her body, taking in the intoxicating intimacy of allowing herself to be open to him like this in the sunlight. There was nowhere to hide, but with him there was no need. His love for her was steady and strong and would last a lifetime.
