Once burned...

Finding my fiancée naked on my couch might’ve been a good thing, if her ex-boyfriend hadn’t been with her. For the past eight years I’ve been a witness to the power of true love, but after getting burned I’d decided there wasn’t any hope for me finding it for myself. Until I met Noelle Brandt in a hotel bar. Maybe it wasn’t the most romantic meeting, but the moment I met her I knew I had to have her. The more I learn about her, the more I know I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her.

Twice shy...

I’d already found the love of my life, but I’d lost that love forever. And I’d been lost ever since. But one night a wounded man makes all of that go away. He makes me laugh, live, and feel alive. When he tells me he has no intention of letting me go, I finally begin to believe in the power of true love again.  That is, until I find out who he really is…and by then, it’s far too late to correct the mistakes we’ve already made. By the time we both know the truth, the lines have already been blurred beyond recognition.

Falls Review
4.5 Glasses

This is my first book in the Out of Line series by Jen Mclaughlin. I have read several books of Jen's and they never disappoint. This is Riley and Noelle's story and it was a very fun read. This book went quick-sucks you in and spits you out at the other end. Other characters from the series make appearances, but this book can be read as a stand alone.

Riley is living in a world of card board cut outs. The perfect job, perfect woman who is soon to be his wife, perfect parents who hold him to certain standards. He goes about his days like a drone, completing the tasks that he was groomed to know and love....hate?!!? When Riley comes home and walks in on his soon to be wife and her ex-boss getting busy on the couch he loses it. He thought he knew what love was. He thought that she loved him. How can a woman love you if she's between the knees of another man? Not feeling as heart broken as he should, Riley heads to the local bar to drown his sorrows. It's there that his life will forever be altered. Sometimess what we think are the best things in life really aren't.

Noelle is a popular romance author. While away at a book convention she stands in a room full of women of all walks of life with her best friend by her side. When she notices a very attractive man at the bar she instantly feels things that she hasn't felt in a very long time. Losing the love of your life can put a major damper on your love life. Noelle struggles with moving on in fear that she will be cheating on her former lover. Its even harder to let go when you blame yourself for what happened. Thinking that not only is this handsome man out of her league, but that she's not sure what she would do even if he wasn't, she decides to head up to her room.

Bumping into each other at the elevator Noelle soon realizes that Riley is not only drunk, and even more handsome up close but lonely and sad. Noelle goes out on a limb and invites Riley to stay the night with her......she has an extra bed of course. She promises no funny business, just sleep and an ear to listen. Riley knows he's drunk but not why this beautiful stranger sets his soul on fire and why she would invite a total stranger to her hotel room. Tired, drunk and lonely Riley accepts and follows Noelle to her room.

Neither feel they are good enough for the other. Riley knows that his parents would never accept Noelle and her career. Noelle knows that she's not ready to give her heart to another man yet and she has a past that is anything but clean. What happens when these two opposites decide to put whats expected aside and live in the moment? Both can heal the other, both fall hard and fast but what happens when they reach the bottom? Will they bounce or will they shatter? Will Riley give into his expectations and push Noelle away or follow what his heart is screaming at him? Will Noelle learn to love again and let the past be in the past? What happens when Riley discovers just what hides in Noelle's past? Is Love enough? True love is never easy, you just have to be willing to fight for it.

I LOVED this book! It was fun, angsty, sad and made you curse at your screen a few times. In the end you find yourself pulling for Riley and Noelle. Hoping that they can see what you as a reader can see and pull their heads out of the sand. I hope that you all enjoy this book as much as I did and take a chance on Riley and Noelle. Jen keep writing amazing stories! You have a life long fan in this blogger. I give Blurred Lines by Jen McLaughlin 4.5 glasses of wine! Cheers and happy reading!
