Becoming Rain

 Becoming Rain Synopsis

Luke Boone doesn't know exactly what his uncle Rust is involved in but he wants in on it—the cars, the money, the women. And it looks like he's finally getting his wish. When Rust hands him the managerial keys to the garage, they come with a second set—one that opens up the door to tons of cash and opportunity. Though it's not exactly legal, Luke's never been one to worry about that sort of thing. Especially when it puts him behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 and onto the radar of gorgeous socialite named Rain.

Clara Bertelli is at the top of her game—at only twenty-six years old, she's one of the most successful undercover officers in the Washington, DC, major crime unit, and she's just been handed a case that could catapult her career and expose one of the West coast's most notorious car theft rings. But, in order to do it, she'll need to go deep undercover as Rain Martines. Her target? The twenty-four-year-old nephew of a key player who appears ready to follow in his uncle's footsteps.

As Clara drifts deeper into the luxurious lifestyle of Rain, and further into the arms of her very attractive and charming target, the lines between right and wrong start to blur, making her wonder if she'll be able to leave it all behind. Or if she'll even want to.

Falls Review
A Whole Bottle

I am a HUGE fan of K.A. Tucker. I have read pretty much all of her books. When I read Burying Water I silently hoped that K.A. Tucker would write a book with Luke as the hero. When Becoming Rain was announced I was so excited and the synopsis made it sound even better. This book can be read as a stand alone but also has characters from Burying Water in it. You will fall in love with Rain and Luke just like I did! This book is an emotional journey that has you pulling for Rain and Luke the whole time.

"Guilt and happiness go to war inside of me as I fall. I wonder which one will win."

Clara loves her job. As a woman, it is hard working in a male dominated profession. When she works undercover its normally to bust pimps and drug dealers. When she gets selected by the FBI to help take down an under ground car smuggling ring she sees it as the perfect career move. She has always dreamed of being a federal agent and a case like this could make it happen. She becomes Rain, a wealthy girl trying to find her way in life riding on the coat tails of her rich parents. Her target is Luke Boone, nephew to one of the men the FBI wants. As Rain sinks further into her role lines between her job and her heart start to blur. She knows that this is a job, get close to Luke, seduce Luke, do whatever it takes. However her heart is having a hard time keeping the two separate. Would she risk it all for love? Can she find a way to save Luke from a future behind bars?

"I’ve broken one of the most basic rules of undercover work: don’t get emotionally attached to your targets."

Luke Boone has always wanted to follow in the foot steps of his uncle. Managing his garage is just a step in the right direction. He knows that his uncle has other jobs, ones that allow him to live the life of luxury, he just needs to serve his time. The only problem is that Luke is getting antsy and feels that his uncle is hiding more then he lets on. Slowly Luke is introduced into the world of under ground smuggling. The players that come together to buy and trade and sell are shady and dangerous. Luke has no idea what he is getting himself into. When Rain enters his life he feels things he never felt before. The life he thought he wanted slowly starts to change. As Luke falls deeper for Rain, secrets start to come to the surface and has him second guessing the life his uncle lives. When a terrible murder happens Luke is rocked. With Rain by his side he feels like he can survive. But what if the one thing in life you trust and give your heart to is not what you think it is? Can you forgive someone who has betrayed you when all you wanted was honesty.

"She's everything I'm used to and yet she's completely new."

The lives of Luke and Rain intertwine and mold into something they never saw coming. Secrets are revealed and not all are answered. When the heart beats so strongly for someone its hard to ignore its call. Sometimes the things you want in life change and transform into something more, something beautiful and terrifying. This book is a beautifully written story of two souls who not only find themselves, but find each other. If you have read Burying Water you will be happy to know that Jesse and Alex make an appearance in this book. I gave Becoming Rain by K.A. Tucker a whole bottle of wine. Raise your glass and toast to a beautifully written story of finding love when you least expect it. Cheers and happy reading!!!

   Burying Water Synopsis

And don’t forget BURYING WATER, the first book in this thrilling series…

The top-selling, beloved indie author of Ten Tiny Breaths returns with a new romance about a young woman who loses her memory—and the man who knows that the only way to protect her is to stay away.

Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives—but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to “Jane Doe” for another day, the woman renames herself “Water” for the tiny, hidden marking on her body—the only clue to her past. Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him?

Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn’t know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer—and happier—that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried.

The trouble is, water always seems to find its way to the surface.
