“She’s beauty for my ashes. And I’m hope for her heartache.”—Cole Danzer

I don’t know what makes a great love story. Is it that instant attraction when boy meets girl? The passionate kisses and the fairy-tale ending? Or is it a lifetime of tragedy, paid in advance, for a few stolen moments of pure bliss? The pain and the suffering that, in the end, you can say are worth it for having found the missing piece of your soul?

The answer is: I don’t know. I don’t know what makes a great love story. I only know what makes my love story. I only know that finding Cole when I did, when Emmy and I were running from a nightmare, was the only thing that saved me. That saved us. He was more broken than I was, but somehow we took each other’s shattered pieces and made a whole. If that is what makes a great love story, if that is what makes an epic romance, then mine…ours is the greatest of them all.

Contains material that some may find disturbing. Not intended for readers under the age of 18.

A Whole bottle

"I don’t know what makes a great love story. I only know what makes my love story. I only know that finding him when I did, saved me. Gah!.....from the opening of the book it grabs your heart and won't let go! I am a HUGE M. Leighton fangirl! I have loved all of her books and each one is just as powerful as the next. Michelle has a way of holding and tight and not letting you go until the end of the ride. You're left feeling all sorts of feelings with a smile on your face you didn't even know was there. If you have never read a M. Leighton book then what are you waiting for? Pocketful of Sand is a standalone and one hell of a way to be introduced into the beautiful, unforgettable world of M. Leighton.

“She’s beauty for my ashes. And I’m hope for her heartache.”

Eden and Emmy are running from a past that still haunts her dreams. Eden has one goal in life, to protect her daughter Emmy at all costs. Moving from place to place isn't easy, and Eden hates that Emmy has no stability in her life. When they wind up in a small town on the coast she thinks that maybe this time things can be different. They stumble across a man on the beach lost in thought. Building a sandcastle by himself, they watch the man work with determination set on his face. Eden isn't looking for a man, they just complicate things and her track record with men hasn't been a good one. Something about this mysterious, handsome man sends Eden's heart into a flutter. When their eyes meet she sees pain and heartache that makes her stomach drop. How could this beautiful man have so much pain? Why can't Eden seem to keep her eyes from finding his?

He's capturing me.
And I'm captured.
He wants me.
And I'm all his.
And I love it. I love it all. More than I ever thought I could.

Cole had it all. On top of the world, the athlete, the husband, the father, the playboy. When his world comes crashing down Cole is forever changed. Pulling away from reality he immerses himself in his work, the only thing that can help calm his mind. He knows the towns people call him crazy. They say he talks to dead people. Cole knows the reality and thats all that matters. When the strange woman and her daughter find him on the beach with his hands buried in the sand his world is rocked. Feelings Cole hasn't allowed himself to have come to surface. As Cole battles his internal demons he wages a war with his mind and his heart. Something about Eden makes him feel fierce, protective, and wild. Emmy brings light to his world that has been dark for so long. How can he learn to hold onto his past that he doesn't want to forget and accept that he is allowed a second chance? What truly wins in the end, the heart or the mind?

"He was more broken than I was, but somehow we took each other's shattered pieces and made a whole."

Without spoiling anything because this book is SO GOOD I am simply going to say you HAVE to read this book!!! This is a story of loss and survival and finding and healing. Two broken souls, who are suffering in very different ways coming together to try and mend the past. I loved that Eden was strong for her daughter and for Cole. I loved how Cole was with Emmy, so patient and loving. His protectiveness and love for Eden shines bright even when he tries to extinguish  it. The ending is beautifully written and seals the deal as a 5 star (or whole bottle) read. I gave Pocketful of Sand by M. Leighton a whole bottle of wine. Grab your bottle and your tissues and hold on tight for this amazing ride! Cheers and happy reading!
